Said Elaine Cheong, Chief Executive Officer, Sime Darby Healthcare, “We believe Sime Darby Specialist Centre Megah fills a need in the market for patients who require specialist medical and surgical care but do not require hospitalization. They require either outpatient or day care after a procedure. You could say our facility bridges the gap between local general practitioners (GPs) and large hospitals.”
Cheong said in essence, Sime Darby Specialist Centre Megah offers a one-stop centre that provides easy convenience and accessibility to a wide spectrum of specialists and surgical care at affordable outpatient rates.
Sime Darby Specialist Centre Megah is positioned to become a centre of excellence for women’s health by catering to their unique needs; this includes the first of its kind Menstrual Clinic.

“For many women with abnormal or heavy menstrual bleeding who seek treatment, removal of the womb (hysterectomy) has been the main surgical treatment for those who do not respond to medications. Fortunately, most heavy menstrual bleeding can now be easily treated without major surgery in those with no obvious cause found. In our Menstrual Clinic, our gynaecologist uses a technique called endometrial ablation which involves the removal or destruction of the lining of the uterus. This technique is a good alternative to removal of the womb for many women with heavy menstrual bleeding who wish to retain their womb or avoid major surgery,” explained Cheong.
Cheong added, “With the prevalence of breast cancer, we also have a very experienced female Consultant Radiologist whose core expertise is in breast imaging and she runs our fully-equipped Breast Imaging Centre”.
Cosmetic surgery is another popular specialty at the specialist centre with daycare procedures like liposuction frequently performed. “Another unique service available for women at our specialist centre here is laser vaginal rejuvenation surgery. Laser is now used during this surgery to perform precise incisions in order to give the best surgical results,” said Cheong.
On the preventative care front, Sime Darby Specialist Centre Megah also offers comprehensive health checks and screening packages for both men and women. “The patient enjoys convenience and comfort as we have a fully-equipped facility with the essential ancillary infrastructure so you can have all the necessary screenings and tests done on-site.” The Centre gave away free vouchers for discounted screening packages during the launch.
